Through better town pathways, bicycle routes and trails connecting the villages and recreational areas across our region.
With the health and safety of our community at its core SHWACA’s long term vision to connect our communities starts with:
. The ability of children to walk or ride to school safely
. Town centres catering for pedestrians and riders as well as cars
. An economic development plan, which embraces the potential for cycling routes, bushwalking and trail based tourism.

Why invest in active forms of transportation?
Health. The physical and mental health benefits of walking and cycling have been recognized for years.
Safety. Walking and cycling in and around some of our increasingly congested townships and villages in Wingecarribee Shire can be dangerous.

WinZero
Wingecarribee Net Zero Emissions is a not-for-profit association of volunteers working across the Southern Highlands, operating as part of the national Beyond Zero Emissions network.
We focus on practical projects that will accelerate our Shire's transition to net-zero emissions. Aligned groups include those working to lower carbon emissions or protect our wildlife and our natural environment through to the students' striking for climate action.
Lowering emissions in the transport sector is arguably one of the most exciting areas of our focus. In our push to electrify everything we like to showcase case studies involving electric vehicles and bikes, and we are advocating for a more cycle friendly Southern Highlands.
